When the world was still young and the heavens untouched, deep within the bowels of the earth—far in the remote reaches of the North—Louhi, the Mistress of the North, forged a realm for herself. It was no ordinary kingdom, but a cavernous expanse teeming with secrets and power.

Louhi, that mighty sorceress, felt the heartbeat of the earth and heard its call. Harnessing the power of her spells, she shaped rock and water to her will. She created a cavernous realm that was like a world unto itself—a realm of water where every droplet whispered tales of ancient power.

In this world, where streams murmured like ribbons of silver and lakes shimmered like stars in the night sky, Louhi ruled with wisdom and resolve. She presided over the mythical North—a cold, harsh land where only the bravest could survive.

Louhi fashioned her realm to serve as both a sanctuary and a source of power. She gathered within it treasures, incantations, and knowledge dating back to the very dawn of creation. This aquatic realm was her fortress, her hidden refuge, and the beating heart of her kingdom.

And so, the water-realm Louhi created lived and breathed in accordance with her will—a testament to her might and her profound connection to the elemental forces that steered the destiny of the world.

Facts about Vesimaailma Louhi:

• Built as a joint project between the Municipality of Lempäälä and Koy Ideapark Ab. The municipality owns 55 percent of Koy Lempäälän Uimahalli, and Ideapark owns 45 percent.
• The facilities are managed by Koy Lempäälän Uimahalli, and daily operations are handled by P.K. Uimahallipalvelut Oy.
• The cavern complex beneath Ideapark was excavated between 2008 and 2012.
• Construction of Louhi began in March 2023, and the doors opened to customers on October 14, 2024.
• The project is truly exceptional in terms of both design and execution, and it set a high standard for everyone involved.
• The gross floor area is 5,214 m².
• The capacity is 450 people.
• The name “Vesimaailma Louhi” was chosen based on a naming contest held in the spring of 2024. An annual pass to Louhi was awarded via a prize draw among everyone who submitted a name suggestion.
• Before the launch of Louhi, several different test groups tested the functions to ensure they worked correctly.
